Unveiled in 2008, the Fünf-Seidla-Steig links the parish village of Thuisbrunn in the north with Weissenohe in the south via the hamlet of Hohenschwärz and the town of Gräfenberg. It became an immediate and resounding success.

Distance: 20 km Starting Point: Classically Gräfenberg or Weissenhohe as both are easily accessible from Nürnberg by regional train. This allows for a true circuit walk. Alternatively, you can get a bus from Gräfenberg to a number of points where you might find overnight accommodation if breaking the walk into two days.

Understand. "Seidla" is the Fraconian term for half a liter of beer or the mug which holds said quantity, respectively. The "Fünf Seidla Steig" was created in 2008 as a marketing move for a rather rural region which had not previously had much tourism, as well as creating business for the breweries and associated brewpubs.

Fünf Seidla Steig® sign. Gräfenberg is the hub of the trail with a direct one-hour train connection to Nürnberg. It doesn't hurt that it has two breweries of its own with Franconian legend Lindenbräu dating back to 1932, one of the hike's biggest attractions.
