History. From 1940-1987 - The Carolina Cafe was a staple of delicious home-cooked meals in Rocky Mount, NC. Owner/Operator Lucille George, known widely and lovingly by her customers simply as "Mrs. George" - was not only a local icon - she was the inventor of a famous dessert that brought customers to her restaurant from all over the country.
