No, standard wine bottles are not meant to hold much pressure at all. Less than one atmosphere and then will easily break. Believe me, I've had wine that was barely fizzy and bottles started to pop. Plus there is no way to hold the pressure back unless you use screw caps. Better to find 22oz beer bottles or sparkling wine bottles.

#1 stupid question maybe, but can you bottle wine in beer bottles? My wife does not drink wine (and therefore I drink very little of it), so the volume in beer bottles makes more sense. Not to mention I have lots of beer bottles. I just found out about plum wine and we have three plum trees so this fall I'm going to try it. thanks, scott I

At least five years. It'll actually be more protected than in a wine bottle with a cork, but part of how wine ages is with microoxidation through the cork so you'll miss out on that effect. But it's fine and you don't have anything to worry about. Wax your caps if you want to be meticulous, or age for more than a couples years or so.

#1 I'm wondering if there is a reason why wine could not be bottled in exactly the same way as beer. It is certainly easier to use a bottle-capper than it is to use a corker, and the smaller serving sizes might be handy sometimes. I'm thinking of bottling some of the current batch in the traditional way, and some as if it were beer.
